The Archaic Foundations of The Concept of Philo-Sophia and Aristotle’s Legacy To The Dominant Pravtice of Western Thought

Abstract

This paper systematically analyses the archaic origins of the concept of philo-sophia and Aristotle's legacy to the Western tradition of thought. Going beyond the myth of the "Greek miracle" of the beginning of philosophy, it examines the epistemological and ontological transformation of the concepts of sophia (wisdom) and s?phrosyn? (temperance). Emphasis is placed on Aristotle's break with the Presocratics and Plato, his construction of a metaphysics centred on nous (reason), and how he transforms the mitos-logos dialectic. Moreover, his rationalisation of virtue ethics with the concepts of eudaimonia (happiness) and energeia (action) formed the core of the humanist and rationalist paradigm of modern Western philosophy. The study aims to reveal how Aristotle's legacy is not limited to the effort to purify the truth from the mythical, but also shapes the origins of a humanistic thought practice centered on human reason.Bu çalışma, philo-sophia kavramının arkaik kökenlerini ve Aristoteles’in Batı düşünce geleneğine mirasını sistematik bir analizle ele almaktadır. Felsefenin başlangıcına dair "Yunan mucizesi" mitinin ötesine geçerek sophia (bilgelik) ile s?phrosyn? (ölçülülük) kavramlarının epistemolojik ve ontolojik dönüşümünü inceler. Çalışma, Aristoteles’in Presokratiklerden ve Platon’dan kopuşunu, nous (akıl) merkezli bir metafizik inşa edişini ve mitos-logos diyalektiğini nasıl dönüştürdüğünü ele alır. Aristotales’in eudaimonia (mutluluk) ve energeia (eylem) kavramlarıyla erdem etiğini rasyonel bir temele oturtması, modern Batı felsefesinin hümanist ve akılcı paradigmasının nüvesini oluşturmuştur. Çalışma, Aristoteles’in mirasının, hakikati mitsel olandan arındırma çabasıyla sınırlı kalmayıp, insan aklını merkeze alan hümanistik bir düşünce pratiğinin kökenini nasıl şekillendirdiğini ortaya koymaya çalışır.
