Formation, Wire Retention and Wastes in Waste Paper Mill

Abstract

Paper was initially produced using cellulose fibers obtained from blackberry and rice stalks through simple methods. As the demand for paper increased, various annual plants, agricultural waste, and old fabrics containing plant fibers were also used for paper production in the following years. On the other hand, forests became the primary raw material source for the paper industry after the development of methods to extract cellulose from trees in the 1800s. Nowadays, with the growing human population and increased consumption, the shortage of raw materials has reached the utmost levels in the paper industry, as in many other sectors, making it difficult to meet demands. For this reason, the recovery of wastepaper, the extraction of cellulose fibers from different annual plants, and the efficient utilization of raw materials are of uttermost importance in paper production. Alongside the process of recycling wastepaper in paper mills, specific challenges have emerged in paper production. Fiber retention and efficient water usage are among the most critical factors influencing operating costs. Factors like the supply of raw materials, difficulties in the procurement process, and insufficient raw material quality negatively impact paper production in wastepaper production. This study aims to examine the topics of retention, water usage and waste through the lens of a paper mill that processes waste paper.Kâğıt, ilk icadında böğürtlen ve pirinç saplarından basit metotlarla elde edilen selüloz elyaflarından üretilmiştir. Takip edilen sonraki yıllarda kağıda olan talebin artmasıyla çeşitli yıllık bitkiler, tarımsal atıklar ve aynı zamanda bitkisel elyaf içeren eski kumaşlar da kağıt üretimi için kullanılmıştır. Ormanlar ise 1800’lü yıllarda ağaçlardan selüloz elde edilmesi geliştirildikten sonra, kâğıt endüstrisi için ana hammadde kaynağı olarak işletilmeye başlanmıştır. Günümüzde ise artan insan nüfusu ve tüketimle beraber çoğu endüstrilerde olduğu gibi kâğıt sektöründe de hammadde kıtlığı azami seviyede olup, talepler karşılanamamaktadır. Bu nedenle kâğıt üretiminde özellikle atık kağıtların geri kazanılması, farklı yıllık bitkilerden selüloz elyafı elde edilmesi ve hammaddenin en etkin şekilde değerlendirilmesi son derece önem arz etmektedir. Kağıt fabrikalarında atık kağıttan tekrar kağıt üretilme süreciyle birlikte, kağıt üretiminde bazı sorunlar oluşmaya başlamıştır. Kâğıt üretiminde özellikle elyafların tutunması ve etkin su kullanımı, işletme maliyetlerini etkileyen en önemli kalemlerin başında gelmektedir. Atık kağıt üretiminde hammaddenin temini, temin sürecinin zorlukları ve hammadde kalitesinin yetersizliği gibi faktörler kağıt üretimini olumsuz olarak etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmada atık kâğıt işleyen bir kağıt fabrikası üzerinden tutunma, su kullanımı ve atıklar konusu incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
