?-kaprolakton ile modifiye edilen odunun mekanik özelliklerinin ve doğal dış ortam koşullarına karşı dayanımının belirlenmesi

Abstract

Son yıllarda artan çevresel kaygılar nedeni ile ahşap koruma endüstrisinde, modifikasyon işlemlerine ilgi artmaktadır. Bazı emprenye maddelerinin toksik özelliklerinin insan sağlığına zarar vermesi, emprenye işlemi uygulanmış ahşap malzemenin bertarafı sırasında çevrede zehirlilik etkisi yaratması ahşap modifikasyon yöntemlerine yönelimin temel sebeplerindendir. Modifikasyon işlemleri ahşabın biyotik ve abiyotik zararlılara karşı korunmasında etkili bir yöntemdir. Çalışmada kullanılan polikaprolakton polimeri, biyobozunur olması, ahşap malzemeye hidrofobik özellik kazandırması ve çevre dostu olması ile öne çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada %100 ve %70 polikaprolakton polimeri ile ladin örnekleri kürleme metodu uygulanarak modifiye edilmiş ve örneklerin 9 ay boyunca doğal dış ortam koşullarına karşı dayanımları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca bazı mekanik özelliklerde meydana gelen değişimler analiz edilerek polikaprolakton uygulamalarının son kullanım yerinde mekanik direnç istenen alanlarda kullanılabilirliği incelenmiştir. Örneklerin ağırlık ve hacim (%) artış değerleri ve doğal dış ortam testi sonrası renk, pürüzlülük değerleri belirlenmiştir. Doğal dış ortam koşullarına bırakılan örneklerin yüzey kimyasında meydana gelen değişimler ise FT-IR spektroskopisi ile incelenmiştir. Örneklerin ağırlık ve hacim (%) artış değerlerinde %100 monomerli grup daha yüksek değerler vermiştir. Renk parametrelerinde yüzeyin ?L* değerlerindeki değişim ile pürüzlülük değerlerindeki değişim modifiyeli örneklerde kontrole kıyasla az bulunmuş olup yüzeyler daha iyi korunmuştur. FT-IR spektroskopisi, yüzey kimyasındaki değişimin modifiyeli gruplarda kontrole kıyasla daha az olduğunu göstermiştir. Modifikasyon işlemi, örneklerin liflere paralel basınç direncini, eğilme direncini ve elastikiyet modülünü azaltmıştır.Due to the increasing environmental concerns in the recent years, chemical modification methods are gaining an importance in wood protection industry. The main reasons for this are the toxic properties of the traditional wood preservatives to human health and to the environment during the disposal of the impregnated wood. Modification processes are an effective method for protecting wood against biotic and abiotic degrading factors. The ?-caprolactone used in the study is a biodegradable, and an environmental friendly polymer with its hydrophobic properties. In this study, spruce wood samples were modified with polycaprolactone polymer by curing method, and the resistance of the modified samples against natural weathering agents was determined. In addition, some mechanical properties of the modified samples were examined to determine the usability of polycaprolactone modified wood in the areas where mechanical resistance is required. The weight and volume (%) increase of the samples, and the color androughness changes of the samples after the natural weathering test were determined. Furthermore, changes in surface chemistry of the weathered samples were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy. 100% monomer modified samples had higher weight percent gain and volumetric swelling than 70% monomer modified samples. The change in ?L* and roughness values of the surface was found to be less in the modified samples compared to the control, and this clearly showed the surfaces were protected by modification process. FT-IR spectroscopy showed that change on the surface chemistry was found to be less in modified samples than control samples. However modification process decreased compressive strength parallel to the fibers, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of samples.
