DOKTORA TEZ SÜRECİNDE KARŞILAŞILAN PROBLEMLERİN BELİRLENMESİ: EĞİTİM FAKÜLTESİ ÖRNEĞİ

Özet
Bu çalışma; lisansüstü eğitimin bir aşaması olan doktora tez sürecinde, lisansüstü öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları problemleri belirlemek ve bu problemleri çözmeye yönelik önerilerde bulunmak amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın örneklemini, bir üniversiteye bağlı Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü’nde doktora çalışmalarını yürüten 3 araştırma görevlisi ve doktora çalışmalarını bitirmiş 3 yardımcı doçent doktor olmak üzere toplam 6 kişi oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada katılımcılarla yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar yürütülmüştür. Mülakatlar sonucunda katılımcıların tez konusu ve tez komitesi belirleme süreçlerinde, danışmanlarının etkisinin büyük rol oynadığı, altı aylık rapor sunumlarının verimli bir şekilde yapılamadığı belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılar daha nitelikli tezlerin ortaya çıkabilmesi için tez konusu, tez izleme komitesi vb. seçimlerini kendilerinin yapması ve altı aylık rapor sunumlarında daha sistemli bir yol izlenmesi gerektiği şeklinde önerilerde bulunmuşlardır.
This study was conducted with a view to determine the problems that students faced in the doctorate thesis process, which is a stage in this graduate education, and to offer suggestions to solve these problems. The sample of this study was made up of 6 participants, 3 of whom were research assistants doing their doctorate studies and the 3 of whom were assistant professors of a universities Science Institute. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with the participants. All of the participants stated that their supervisors were influential for the choice of their thesis subjects and six-month report wasn’t done as it was expected to be. The findings of this study are believed to be useful for the researchers who want to do a postgraduate study about what kind of way to pursue during this process.
