dc.description.abstractThe increasing complexity of game development necessitates robust and scalable data management solutions. Google Spanner, with its globally distributed architecture, offers a powerful database system capable of supporting large-scale gaming applications. However, the intricacies of managing such a system can be daunting, particularly for game developers who may lack in-depth database expertise. To address these challenges, this work introduces a Google Spanner management application specifically tailored for the game development industry. The application integrates seamlessly with Google Cloud Platform, leveraging Google account verification to enhance both security and account management. In addition to its core functionality, the application provides an intuitive, visually appealing table browsing interface, making data management more accessible to non-technical roles, such as game designers. Early testing demonstrates substantial improvement in database performance and a significant reduction in administrative overhead, underscoring the application’s potential to streamline operations and drive efficiency within the gaming industry. Performance evaluations also reveal that the application offers an average query latency reduction of 15.56% compared to baseline AWS RDS (Managed Relational Database Service), further enhancing its appeal for real-time gaming environments. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
