Özet
Nurses, who play a critical and essential role in patient care, are exposed to various predictable and unpredictable stressors and are psychosocially affected. This descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional study aimed to assess psychological symptoms in nurses working in a University Hospital. The study was conducted between February-April 2021 on 757 nurses working in a University Hospital. Data were collected using the “Personal Information Form” and the “Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI)-53”. The results showed that the total and subscale scores of the BSI-53 were low among the nurses who participated in this study. It was also found that there was a significant relationship between the total scale score, and age, having worked as a nurse for a long time, not having chosen nursing by choice and not choosing it again if given a chance, and experiencing stress in areas related to work, role, team members, management, patients and their relatives, non-medical problems of patients and their relatives, physical environment and interpersonal relationships. It is thought that these results will guide the development of nurses' mental health and provide data for new studies.
