Öğe Design of Outer Runner-Type Brushless Permanent Magnet DC Motor for Lightweight E-Vehicles(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Garip, Selman; Yaşa, YusufIn this paper, high-efficiency high power density hub type electric motor is developed for electric vehicles (EVs). Brushless DC motor (BLDC) is frequently used in outer runner hub motor applications. BLDC motors provide high power density and wide range efficiency over variable speed. In this study, the basic design concept is reviewed, then appropriate slot-pole combinations for hub motor application are given. In the whole paper, the comparative design approach is adopted for this kind of combinations. © 2020 IEEE.Öğe A Review on the Battery State of Charge Estimation Methods for Electric Vehicle Battery Management Systems(Ieee, 2019) Aslan, Eyyüp; Yaşa, YusufBattery technology plays an important role in the development of battery-powered devices. Especially, it is regarded as a key role in electric vehicles. To contribute to this important topic, researchers have focused on battery technologies and battery management systems. The battery management system performs valuable tasks such as increasing the efficiency of multi-cell battery packs, ensuring safe operation and providing information to the user about the battery. In order to achieve the most efficient management system, several methods have been proposed to estimate the battery state of charge (SoC). In this study, the methods used for battery SoC estimation are analyzed and their positive and negative aspects are discussed. As a result, advanced and efficient methods are highlighted and recommendations are expressed.Öğe An Unscented Kalman Filter Design on Rotating Reference Frame for Induction Machines(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020) Cebeci, E.; Yaşa, YusufThe need for high performance and high control accuracy in electric motors has made modern motor control techniques popular. Modern control techniques require position sensors integrated in the electric motor. An alternative method to sensor feedback systems is the cost-effective prediction methods that offer solutions within acceptable limits. In this study, a new observer model is proposed for induction machines. In the design of the observer, Unscented Kalman Filter is used. In the Unscented Kalman Filter design, the rotor position information is defined as a state variable within the mathematical model. Therefor the observer model has been developed without the need for additional sensor costs. As an observer model output, machine internal parameters such as rotor fluxes which cannot be measured directly and rotor speed can be estimated without requiring a sensor by using this method. © 2020 IEEE.
