Öğe A demand-side management assessment of residential consumers by a clustering approach(Springer, 2022) Oguz, Eray; Tekdemir, İbrahim Gürsu; Gozel, TubaResidential consumers have a significant share in total energy demand today. Demand-side management is a collection of processes which makes providing large amounts of energy less problematic. Identifying demand characteristics of energy consumers is a remarkable part of this process. Data clustering methods have recently been proposed as beneficial tools at that point. In this study, a novel parametric representation of residential energy consumption data is proposed. For that purpose, eleven specific parameters are proposed first for extraction of features in data. Next, principal component analysis is used for dimension reduction. Finally, k-means algorithm is applied for clustering. Two residential energy consumption datasets are used for validation. Analyses are carried out in MATLAB and R. Data clustering is realized on a monthly basis by using daily load curves and clustering performance is compared with another study. It is found that the proposed approach leads to the formation of meaningful clusters of residential consumers. It is also possible to observe demand tendency on a daily basis since daily consumption data is used during the process. Performance evaluation scores show that energy consumption data fit better into clusters when it is compared with another study in the literature.Öğe A Statistical Approach for Distribution System State Estimation(2024) Tekdemir, İbrahim GürsuPower system state estimation is a useful technique that enables the system to be monitored when sufficient measurements are not available. Although it has been practiced for a long time, distribution system state estimation (DSSE) is still challenging today and is being studied from various perspectives. This is because distribution systems are large, complex, and hard to be monitored entirely using adequate measuring devices. In this study, a novel approach is proposed for DSSE, and it is demonstrated that it is possible to improve conventional state estimation results by using proper statistical models of energy con- sumption behaviors. For that purpose, a feeder in the Civanlar test system is analyzed by adapting real energy consumption data into a virtual consumption region with 10 465 residents created in this study. It is observed that estimated bus voltage amplitude values are improved as a result of the analyses carried out for 16 scenarios in total, which consist of four seasons and two time periods. The scenarios are grouped into two cases, base system and system with solar energy generation, each containing eight scenarios. The obtained results are significant in terms of showing that it is possible to improve DSSE results by using a statistical approach.Öğe Dağıtım sisteminde harmonik yük tespiti için toplam harmonik aktif güç yöntemi(2024) Özel, Ferhat; Yörükeren, Nuran; Tekdemir, İbrahim GürsuGüç sistemlerinde yaygın olarak kullanılan nonlineer karakteristiğe sahip yükler, akım ve gerilim harmonik bozulmalarına neden olmaktadır. Güç sistemlerinde harmonikler, enerji verimliliği ve güç kalitesi açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bir güç sisteminin herhangi bir ortak bağlantı noktasındaki (OBN) harmoniklere, genellikle birden fazla harmonikli yükler neden olmaktadır. Harmonikli yüklerin yerinin belirlenmesi, harmonik azaltma yöntemlerinin uygulanması ve uluslararası standartlardaki sınır koşullarının sağlanması açısından çok önemlidir. Bu çalışmada, harmonikli yüklerin yerinin belirlenmesine yönelik analizler yapılmış; bu amaçla, yaygın olarak kullanılan Toplam Harmonik Aktif Güç (THAG) yöntemi incelenmiştir. Yöntemin incelemesinde, IEEE 13 baralı dengeli dağıtım test sistemi kullanılmıştır. Test sisteminde harmonikli güç akışı analizleri için DIgSILENT Power Factory kullanılmış ve yönteme ilişkin hesaplar, MATLAB’te gerçekleştirilmiştir.Öğe Short-Term Electricity Load Forecasting and Seasonality Analysis Using Temperature and Artificial Intelligence Methods in the Southeastern Anatolia Region(Bursa Teknik Üniversitesi, 2025) Çadırcı, Sena; Tekdemir, İbrahim GürsuThe planning of electrical energy systems can be realized in a more efficient and sustainable way by forecasting energy demand accurately. In this context, short-term load forecasting plays a critical role in optimizing energy production and distribution processes. In this study, short-term load forecasting was conducted using hourly electricity consumption data from a facility located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region between 2019–2022. The data were integrated with meteorological parameters to evaluate the impact of temperature. The performance of Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) methods were compared. According to the results, the ARIMA method was the most successful with an accuracy rate of 92%, followed by the ANN model with 90% accuracy. The MLR method demonstrated relatively lower performance, achieving an accuracy rate of 89%. Moreover, ANN showed a strong capability to model complex relationships, while ARIMA excelled in datasets with seasonality. In conclusion, this study highlights the strengths and weaknesses of different methods, providing valuable contributions to energy planning and emphasizing the importance of analyses conducted using regional datasets.Öğe The Effects of Design Parameters on The UNICORE Type Transformer Inrush Current(Kocaeli Üniversitesi, 2022) Karaarslan, Mehlika Şengül; Alboyacı, Bora; Çınar, Mehmet Aytaç; Tekdemir, İbrahim GürsuIn this study, it is aimed to fill the information gap about the effects of designed parameters in UNICORE type transformers inrush current. Considered prameters are the flux density, the core construction and the lamination thickness of the transformers. In this context, the UNICORE transformer was compared with the conventional wound core (CWC) transformer by using three-dimensional finite-element configuration. In order to get real system response, the study was carried out experimentally. Analyzing the test results, the effects of the core material and design parameters on the magnitude, duration and harmonic content of inrush current on these types of transformers were detected. Tests were performed by using a programmable power source and analyzed data sets were recorded by scopemeter.
