EXAMINING THE IMPACT OF LIFESTYLE ON BEHAVIORAL ROLE IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

Abstract

Tourism activities cause more and more negative impacts on the environment every day. In order to reduce these negative impacts, all stakeholders involved in tourism activities should engage in sustainable behaviors. Especially the lifestyles adopted by people directly affect the environment and the sustainability of future generations. These negativities show their effects in social, economic and cultural areas other than the environment. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the impact of lifestyle on behavioral role in the context of sustainable tourism. Another aim of the study is to determine whether the behavioral role differs according to the demographic characteristics of the participants. In this context, analyzes were made on 305 data obtained. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that innovators have a positive effect on environmental and social role, thinkers on environmental, cultural and economic role, believers on environmental role, and doers on environmental, cultural, economic and social role. At the same time, it was determined that the behavioral role differed according to the gender, marital status, age, education and occupation of the participants, but did not show a significant difference according to income. In line with the results obtained, various suggestions were presented to the relevant stakeholders for the development of sustainable tourism.Turizm faaliyetleri her geçen gün çevre üzerinde daha fazla olumsuz etkilere neden olmaktadır. Bu olumsuz etkileri azaltmak için turizm faaliyetlerine katılan tüm paydaşların sürdürülebilir davranışlarda bulunması gerekmektedir. Özellikle insanların benimsedikleri yaşam tarzları çevreyi ve gelecek nesillerin sürdürülebilirliğini doğrudan etkilemektedir. Bu olumsuzluklar çevre dışında sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel alanlarda da etkisini göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı, sürdürülebilir turizm bağlamında yaşam tarzının davranışsal rol üzerindeki etkisinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmanın bir diğer amacı ise, davranışsal rolün katılımcıların demografik özelliklerine göre farklılık gösterip göstermediğinin tespit edilmesidir. Bu kapsamda elde edilen 305 veri üzerinden analizler yapılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda; yenilikçilerin çevresel ve sosyal rol, düşünenlerin çevresel, kültürel ve ekonomik rol, inananların çevresel rol, yapıcıların ise çevresel, kültürel, ekonomik ve sosyal rol üzerinde pozitif bir etkisinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Aynı zamanda davranışsal rolün katılımcıların cinsiyet, medeni durum, yaş, eğitim ve mesleklerine göre farklılık gösterdiği gelire göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda ilgili paydaşlara sürdürülebilir turizmin gelişimine yönelik çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur.
